This is a Spot Grips Review. Spot Grips are a dumbbell spotter system that uses a unique mechanism to release and lock on any size dumbbell to make bench press and other dumbbell movements safer.

As you’ll see in the review, it’s a great idea and I’m all for anything that will improve the safety in any home gym or commercial gym. The issue is the price, which I detail in the video.

It's a recycled seatbelt in a metal case. Damn that's a hell of a mark up. In fact the hanging weights themselves is a safety issue. You drop them, they're now acting like two sledgehammers and your head is in the middle.

It's a safety device that makes it less safe.

Edit: you can see it…he's moving his head out of the way of the swinging weights! 🤣 It's a problem to a solution that is looking for a different problem that doesn't exist. 😂🤣

This would actually work great for workouts in an apartment where you cant drop the weights on the floor

Why are so many items a fortune when it just seems to be a few metal parts welded together? Does the fabrication of welding metal together really cost that much?

Why would anyone want to buy these? The whole point of dumbbell bench press is tossing them on the floor when you are done with your set

To the creators and anyone who would actually use this:…If the weight you are lifting is too much to put back in the starting position in a controlled manner than you need to stop ego lifting and go to lighter weights you weak ass mofos. I appreciate your review.

I wouldn't mind these when doing declines, but that price is ridiculous.

Crash pads from Titan make this utterly unnecessary. I don't normally like Titan, but in this case I'm dropping heavy crap on their crap so it's ok.

This is one of those times we say "the old ways are the best", thanks Coop for reviewing nearly everything on the market : )

The sad thing is I actually see someone getting hurt with this, locking and swinging to smash a face or worse. I wanted to dislike the video just for that reason. However, the video was informative and its something I didn’t know was ever created or existed. MY……..

CONS: TOO expensive, ugly stickers, release and lock mechanism looks like it would affect your grip (feeling very odd), looks like it would only work with presses, NO curls, Rows, or Raises. Overall, is looks pretty useless. We live in a world with strange and impractical people. So They may be someone out there that’s interested in a specialty item like this – some fool fixated on benching the heaviest dumbbells.

PRO: Something new. I appreciate the “creativity” of the engineer/inventor. (Someone had an idea and went for it, respect). Seems sturdy.

I own the power block set that goes up to 120 pounds each. I love them and will never part with them. But 1# i would never drop 499 on the dumbell spotters. 2# you cant you these on power blocks.
I am still amazed that power block sells a 125 to 175 pound pair that cost 2000 bucks. Great channel, love the videos Coop.

If you're crafty enough, go to the scrap yard and pull out a couple of seat belts

These would be good for DB floor press as it's a b!tch to get heavy DBs in position by yourself.

I can see why this doesn't work for quite a few people (stupid high price tag, solid build with cheap stickers for logo, etc.), nonetheless it's been great for me.

I live in an apartment and I can't just drop the weights without someone complaining to the front office about all the noise. As for someone spotting me, lol, no one will do that where I'm at. My roommates aren't interested in working out, spotting, etc.

It is what it is, I guess.

Also, I have something wrong with my tendon in my right arm, and every time in the past I've tried getting into dumbbell chest press position, I felt pain in the crook of my arm. With these bad bois, I can chest press with no pain at all. I love it!

That said, I could see big issues down the line if the price doesn't come down. Competitors like Titan Fitness might be able to build something like this for way cheaper. Then those who were on the fence, with similar issues like me, may buy the cheaper alternative. Time will tell…

Garage Gym Reviews, have you tried if powerblock adjustable dumbells fit with the spot grips? i think that will be a good video to create. also another good video to create is like "the ultimate minimalist gym" or "ultimate tiny home gym equipment" for people with very small spaces

Can't be as expensive as a trip to the hospital, and you can't put a price on your life, unless you sell caskets caskets are expensive.
